Omnipresent was started in just 2019, quickly raised over $100 million in funding, and has expanded its Employer of Record (EOR) services to currently over 160 countries. Omnipresent is a Global EOR, meaning they stand in as the legal, liable employer for employers residing in their countries of operation, on behalf of their international clients.

EOR hires can help achieve many other business objectives as well; spearheading sales and marketing in new markets, or sourcing materials and manufacturers, for instance. Since Omnipresent acts as the sole employer (employees’ services are contracted to clients, who make all work-related decisions), the EOR is responsible for payments into statutory and supplementary benefits payments, local tax filing, and other compliance issues. Clients of Omnipresent are essentially able to hire employees based anywhere in the world without having to set up additional legal entities.

Overview

All of Omnipresent’s services are accessed through the OmniPlatform, the heart of the system. From this online portal, business owners can initiate onboarding for new hires, review and amend contracts, and pay all international employees through a single consolidated monthly invoice.

Omnipresent boasts that its system allows for significant time savings when compared with competitors. While the onboarding process of task management, contract customization, contract review, and document issuing and collation can take up to 13 hours through some competitors’ platforms, Omnipresent advertises that this can be accomplished in less than half of the time through the OmniPlatform, just 6 hours.

Ongoing monthly tasks are designed to be simplified as well. According to Omnipresent, the regular tasks of maintaining employee contact points, handling payslips and questions, general inquiries, and offboarding can consume up to 15.5 hours per month when using a competing service, while it can be accomplished in 6 hours via OmniPlatform.

Omnipresent confidently states that its clients raise their remote footprints by an average of 300% each year, a testament to the ease and scalability of the system.

Key features

1. Employer of Record

Omnipresent’s EOR service can compliantly hire employees in 160 countries worldwide. The company provides benefits packages that are custom tailored to each labor market in order to be locally compliant and competitive. Omnipresent’s international network of employment lawyers provides contract and compliance advice covering EOR employees in all jurisdictions.

Global EOR services have been quickly gaining popularity alongside the rise of remote work. As many companies have moved their business model to a reliance on remote teams, they have also begun to look at hiring competitively priced but highly qualified professionals abroad. International hires can save on the bottom line, bring high-demand skills to companies based in locations where those skills are hard to find, and bring a diversity of ideas and backgrounds to the company culture.

International professionals flock to remote work opportunities in search of more competitive salaries than those offered by local employers, more flexible work hours, and the opportunity to work with a highly skilled multinational team.

Each client is assigned a Customer Success Manager and an Account Manager. The Customer Success Manager serves as employers’ main daily point of contact, handling questions regarding existing employees, compliance, benefits, and signing new employees up to the platform. The Account manager provides consultation on which labor markets are best suited for particular industries and clients’ needs and helps develop an overall team-building strategy.

2. Payroll

All payroll features can be accessed via the online platform, and are designed for ease of use and fast processing. Global payroll is consolidated into a single monthly invoice, available for payment in the business owner’s currency of choice.

Omnipresent maintains a payroll team staffed by specialists serving all time zones. Within this team are further specialized compliance experts that stay abreast of any updates or changes to local regulations.

For companies that already hire international employees through their own legal entity, Omnipresent offers international payroll services Ala carte. Payroll functions can also be integrated with existing payroll systems, so local, international, and EOR employees can all be compliantly paid through a single system.

3. HR

Employers know how to manage on-the-job issues in their industry, what they may not know is all of the practices that must be followed in dealing with their internationally distributed teams. Omnipresent provides support related to compliant employee termination and severance, guidance on the right to work for different nations, 13th and 14th-month salaries required in some countries, salary benchmarking, tax code queries, local IP legislations, establishing and determining seniority in contracts, disciplinary procedures, restrictive covenants, maternity leave, employee retention guidance, and performance improvement management.

In addition to supporting remote workers, Omnipresent can help employers bring employees to the home office, as well. It can sponsor working visas for 50 select countries, allowing companies based in these areas to easily transfer their remote employees to the head office if desired.

For employees, the Omnipresent platform and team are available to assist with payslip queries, employment status after mergers and acquisitions, visa applications, and clarification of procedures and compliance issues. The Omnipresent support team works in multiple timezones and languages, in order to provide the best possible localized support for global employees.

Omnipresent supports upskilling for employees and managers alike through OmniAcademy, a free service offering in-depth courses on topics such as international hiring, how to best utilize the EOR business model, and best practices for remote professionals.

4. Compliance

The Omnipresent team handles global regulatory compliance for all employees worldwide. All contracts have been created and reviewed by international and jurisdiction-specific legal teams to ensure compliance and maximum protection for employers and employees.

Omnipresent maintains a compliance database with information on local regulations in all 160 nations it works in so that employers can research the regulatory environment of any area before hiring. This information is reviewed and updated by an international legal team to ensure quality and accuracy.

The data protection protocols used by Omnipresent meet both US and EU standards, with SOC2 Type 1 and GDPR compliance. It employs recognized cryptography algorithms (AES-356/TLS 1.2/TLS 1.3) for data transfers and provides secure cloud hosting via Amazon Web Services.

How does omnipresent help clients stay compliant internationally?

Platform

Omnipresent promotes significant potential time savings through the use of their platform, OmniPlatform. Onboarding processes can take half as much time (6 hours) in comparison with competitor’s systems, and a 9.5 hour per month reduction in time spent on upkeep tasks (from 15.5 hours with competitor’s software to 6 hours with OmniPlatform).

The platform helps employers choose which global labor markets to look into before hiring their remote teams. Through OmniPlatform, business owners can browse country-level data on local sailors, employment laws, taxes, and other relevant information.

Users report that the platform is easy-to-use and well-designed, allowing simple fast access to most functions. For companies that already use a Human Resources Information System (HRIS), OmniPlatform is able to integrate with 40 of the most popular systems (e.g., Ledgy), allowing simple transfer of information with no need to duplicate entries.

Due to the strength of the Omniplatform, Omnipresent was judged best EOR platform in the RemotePad Top 10 EOR ranking.
